Saturday LIVE! with EWF

I can’t believe I haven’t posted any Earth, Wind & Fire music videos yet.  Could of sworn I had some on my old site.  It’s really hard to pick which of their many hits to post so I’m just gonna grab one of my faves from the late ’70’s since this is also a live version, and you know by now. they’re my preference.

Gotta love the lyrics, Maurice’s voice, the horn section with sax solo and of course, the costumes.  Enjoy!

OBG League – FALL Final Standings

Ron Boyle’s Stingers team ended up finishing in 1st place so technically we’re gonna call it a 3-peat.  But Jim Cupilary’s Nine-Ballers team came out of nowhere to tie by winning 14 out of their 16 games.  Jim Turner’s team finished 1 game behind in 3rd.

This week we’ll have the wrap-up party and draft for next session at 11.  We need 2 players to fill out the 18 team so if you want to play, let me know!   Standings are posted here.

More Playing for a Change – Sam Cooke

I guess I’m not only on a Playing for Change kick, but I’m backing previous Sam Cooke song with another by him. This one is “Bring It On Home” and it’s played by some great local artists around the world.  And speaking of Same Cooke, he is featured in the new movie “One Night in Miami” and played by Leslie Odom Jr who played Aaron Burr in the musical, Hamilton.  Sally and I drove down to Tampa to see the show back in 2019.  Here is my post from back then about my favorite song from the musical — by Eliza. I’m also including the trailer from “One Night in Miami” which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Silly Saturday – Oldest Rock Band

And you thought I was talking about the Rolling Stones.  But I’m actually going in a completely different direction!  I doubt if many of you have heard of the Zimmers who are thought of as a rock band with the oldest members-:)  And I REALLY doubt if you know that they got their name from the Zimmer Frame, which is a British term for a walker.

Just a little something silly for this Saturday to brighten your weekend — Enjoy!

Billy Schmidt – Update

Many of you have been getting my updates on Billy’s health when we see one another but since so many were involved in this effort I thought I’d post the latest here – along with a few pics and videos.   Barry & Chris Curtis, Sherry Alexander, and I dropped off a new electric wheelchair for Billy, who is now in an assisted living facility — Lady Lake Senior Living Center on Rt. 466.

It was definitely a group effort in which…click READ MORE for more info, pics and videos.

Two for Tuesday – Roxy Music

Going back to the basics of what is on my car’s USB stick.  Roxy Music – with Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno – is kind of a hard band to describe.  They were in that 70’s era of sophisticated, glam rock that transitioned into punk and new wave.

But don’t let that description turn you off from listening to these 2 songs – first from their final album, Avalon, the second one, Slave to Love, from Ferry’s first album.  They are really downright pretty songs – great melodies.
