This week’s Where or When-sday is a bit different. I think everyone has heard the Blood, Sweat and Tears rendition of “And When I Die” but I wonder how many knew that Laura Nyro wrote that song when she was only 16. Some of her other hits include “Wedding Bell Blues”, “Stoned Soul Picnic”, and Eli’s Coming”.

OK…it’s a little late on Tuesday but I wanted to put something special together for Ken Duma, who was always complaining that I didn’t post enough old 60’s-70’s rock.  The first one below is my favorite Jethro Tull song and a live performance to boot.

Don Hunter’s Bank Pool League has wrapped up all the matches that impacted standings this past Monday. Congrats to Don Simpson (1st ), Mike Dunn (2nd) , Brian Bedford (3rd), and Don Hunter (4th).  Honorable mention to Mike Dunn with the highest balls per game rating.

George West is now maintaining the stats for the 3-Cushion Billiards League that plays at Saddlebrook on Mondays.  Drop by and talk to George or Conrad if you’re interested in learning the game or playing in this league. Ginger will be starting a new session of her Odell 8 and 9-ball league on Tuesday, April 8th, at 1:00.  Her weekly results will be posted here in News items each week and on her league’s page here which has info about the league and its new schedule.  I also posted the last session final standings there if you want to check them out.

Standings from Week #5 (03/23) of Larry Berg’s Sunday Mixed Scotch Doubles Leagues at Hibiscus and Canal are now posted on his league’s page here… Looks like Tom and Shar slid into 1st place at Canal.  Joe and Cindy Marz are still out in front at Hibiscus.

Ginger’s Billiards Open had their 8-Ball tournament this past Friday night (03/28) at Silver Lake. It was a 4-way tie for 1st place.  Jim Gorman,  John Shepard, Bob Huebsch, and Bob Cornell are shown left to right below.

(From 11/23/2018) It’s Friday With Frank and we’re going way back this time — to 1943 and the movie “Reveille With Beverly”.  Here’s a bit of trivia for you…In his narration for the 1977 documentary film Life Goes to War, Johnny Carson remarked that while he was stationed on Guam during World War II, he had “memorized the entire score – and most of the dialogue – of Reveille with Beverly”.

Did you know that there is a Snooker League that plays at the Sterling Heights Rec Center?  They have been playing for quite a few years now on the 6′ x 12′ table there.  If you’ve never played the game or are interested in learning about it, you should stop by on a Tuesday to check it out.  Mike Rood and Rich Patterson share responsibilities for running the league.
