Playing with AI…again

OK…I was playing again!  Not  much on TV tonite so I decided to play around with that AI software again.   My first effort was back in April here and was kinda lame.  Just OK for a first effort.  This time I wanted to make a little tutorial on how to get around my website, showing some of the features you may not be aware of so I threw the little video below together.

The problem is that there is a 3-minutes limitation on the free version so this only covers the basics.  I’ll probably do another as it mentions at the end.  Check it out here — it’s cute!

The Del-Vikings

(From 11/5/2018) Today’s music video is for Joey and all the other Doo-Wop fans out there.  They probably already knew, but many others don’t, that the Del-Vikings were the first racially mixed band to have a hit that reached the charts in the 50’s.  They still sound pretty damn good in this much later rendition of Come  Go With Me.

Sunday Mixed Scotch Doubles – 07/06

Paul Gagnon and Char Potochar were knocked out of 1st place by Roger Pollock and Mary Jordan this past Sunday – Week #6 of this session.  Don Sell and Joan Kreuzer are now in 3rd but the order may change since there are a couple of make-up matches.

The new schedule, teams and standings are now posted on his league’s page here.

Friday With Frank – Ol’ Man River

(From 2/15/2019)  Well, this certainly doesn’t have the depth of Paul Robeson’s iconic version from Showboat (shown below) but it does show Frank’s range back in his youth.

For those who are curious…this is from the Jerome Kern autobiographical 1946 movie “Till the Clouds Roll By”.I didn’t realize Paul Robeson was born in the late 1800’s or that he was also a lawyer. I always thought of only his singing and acting careers but he attended Rutgers University and Columbia Law School. Quite an interesting man as you can read here on Wikipedia.

Africa Safari Posts…

As I mentioned in this post last week, a couple of people were asking me about the Africa trip I took back in 2019 when we traveled to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana.   I can’t believe it was 6 years ago this month!  I’m going to re-load all the posts I did back then but just a few a few at a time.

I’m not going to post these under the Recent section so they won’t clutter up the weekly Newsletter since it automatically sends that category of posts out.  Instead, here is a link to the first four days if you want to check them out.  Enjoy!

HICKEY Advanced League – Final Standings

Despite Dan throwing down a 16 yesterday (tied Bill Canty for high score of the session) along with Don Yost and Ed Holtzman only getting their absentee scores, Greg’s team managed to slip into first place.  This was definitely one of the closest sessions I can remember!

Next Thursday is Al Parker Tourney so we’re off.  A couple of guys need to take off next session but Fred, Grover and John are back in the line-up.

Final standings and teams for next session can be found here…

The league details and history can be found here…

Friday Straight Pool League – First Results Are In!

Results from the first week of play in Fred Caprio’s Friday morning Advanced Straight pool league are in.  They normally pay at Hibiscus but it was still closed so not all the matches were played elsewhere.  They should be able to get back in Hibiscus for this Friday’s matches.
