(From 11/28/2018) This week’s Where or When-sday is a bit different. I think everyone has heard the Blood, Sweat and Tears rendition of “And When I Die” but I wonder how many knew that Laura Nyro wrote that song when she was only 16. Some of her other hits include “Wedding Bell Blues“, “Stoned Soul Picnic“, and “Eli’s Coming“.
Sadly, she passed in 1997 of ovarian cancer like her mother, and also at the same age of 49 as her mother, I can’t find a version of her singing any of those songs above live but I did want to showcase her amazingly soulful and pure voice. So below the BS&T live performance of “And When I Die“, you’ll find something that I think is special. I encourage you to take 7 minutes out of your day for this one.
