(From 10/8/20190  You may not have heard of the 70’s band, Renaissance, but it was one of my favorite groups back then. They actually started with some members of the Yardbirds but I didn’t get into them unto Annie Haslam replaced the original female singer in ’72. I saw them 3 or 4 times at the Academy of Music in Philly then years later after she left the group, at the Stone Balloon in Newark, DE.

 

Over the years, they went thru numerous band members from groups like King Crimson, Asia, Supertramp and The Animals. I had 7 or 8 of their albums but my fave was probably their Live at Carnegie Hall from 1976 when they had a 3-day sold-out concert with the New York Philharmonic. It covers all their hits from the 70’s. Annie’s 5-octave range is pretty amazing as you’ll hear…
