Bank Pool League

Don Hunter now runs 2 Divisions of his Bank Pool league – for both Advanced and now also for Intermediate level players.  They  start up on Monday, January 5th play at the Hibiscus Rec Center at 9am for the Advanced Division and at 10AM on Mondays for the Intermediate Division. I believe these are the only bank pool leagues in TV.

Last year was their first year and Don a great response so he hopes this will be something that he can keep going. This should be a very competitive league, as many very good players have entered. Feel free to stop in to watch, maintaining pool room etiquette of being quiet.  Here’s a YouTube video of a bank pool match between Efren Reyes and John Brumback in the 2010 Derby City Classic Banks Division Finals.

BANK POOL RULES

  • The objective of nine ball bank pool is to pocket 5 balls before your opponent. General BCA pool rules apply in bank pool.  Click here for the General Rules of Bank Pool.
  • They will not be playing all ball fouls, but all cue ball fouls and if you move 2 object balls. An illegal shot is played from where the balls lie. Cue ball scratch is played from the kitchen. Shots must be played on object balls outside the kitchen.  The base of the ball is the guideline for determining whether a ball is in the kitchen or out.  If all the object balls are in the kitchen, the ball closest to the head rail is spotted.
  • 3 fouls in a row, is a loss of game. You have to let your opponent know he is on 2 fouls. 3 owed balls is a loss of game. These league rules are used to help move the game along.
  • All shots must be called, including how many rails. There are no 3 rail kicks, there are no kick banks, all banks must go in clean with no caroms. When you foul you lose a ball. If you don’t have a ball to spot, then you owe a ball.
  • On the break, 4 balls must hit a rail or a ball must be pocketed. If these conditions are not met, the incoming player has the option of playing the table as it is, or having his opponent re-break. However, if the breaking player miscues and does not make contact with the rack, it is a foul, he owes a ball and the break passes to his opponent. If he miscues and hits the rack and does not hit a rail.
