(From 2/21/2019) Something different for today. We went down to the Straz Theater in Tampa to see the Tony-award winning musical, Hamilton. After listening to the CD beforehand and seeing a couple of performances by the original Broadway cast on TV, I knew it was going to be a very good show and was not disappointed. As the Tampa Herald Tribune called it here – Game-Changing – when it comes to musicals.
But the surprising thing to me was that I personally thought Hamilton’s wife, Eliza, was far-and-away the best singer. The guy who played Alexander was very good – certainly not a disappointment – but Emily Clemons’ voice was just so moving and pure. I walked out with a completely different favorite song, “Burn“.
