We’re doing a “Two for Tuesday” today with a couple of songs that are on just about every playlist I put together. The first is the original version of “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted” from Jimmy Ruffin that was released in 1966. Jimmy’s brother, David, played in a little band you may have heard of — The Temptations.
Below that video is a version done by Joan Osborne with the Funk Brothers, the studio band that backed up Jimmy on the original song along with most other bands out of Motown. Definitely crank it up!!
Also, try to catch the movie “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” — it’s often on HBO – and tells the story of the Funk Brothers and Motown.
Don’t forget…you can click in the lower right of a YouTube video to make it full screen. Also, you can use the Posts menu item to filter posts to a specific category – e.g. Videos – to just show those. Enjoy!
