When: June 7, 2025
Who: All non-beginner players
Time: 9:00 first group; You must be present 30 minutes before your match
Format: 32-Player Ladder, Double Elimination
Handicaps: 9’s race to 5 games (when a 9 plays a 9 the race is to 4); 8’s race to 4 games; 7’s race to 3 games
Rules of Play
- Winner of the lag breaks first (alternate breaks thereafter)
- Rack your own with 1 ball at front and 9 in the middle
- At least 4 balls must hit a rail or at least one object ball must be pocketed for a legal break
- First shot after the break is eligible to “push” if desired. (Cue ball must be struck but does not have to touch a rail or a ball). Player calling a push must advise their opponent of their intent to push.
- After a push, the incoming player has the option of accepting the cue ball where it lies or advising their opponent to “shoot again”.
- After the break (or after a push) the lowest numbered ball on the table must be struck with a numbered ball sunk or a rail hit after making contact.
- There are NO called shots. As long as the lowest numbered ball is struck first any balls pocketed (except the cueball) allows the shooter to continue. The game ends when the 9-Ball is pocketed.
- If a foul occurs, the incoming player has “ball in hand” anywhere on the table.
- If a player commits 3 fouls in a row, it is loss of game. Opponent MUST advise player after they have committed 2 fouls BEFORE they step to the table.
- Play continues until one player has reached their desired number of games won.
FOULS:
- If you know you have fouled, please pick up the cue ball and hand it to your opponent.
- A foul occurs if you fail to hit the lowest numbered ball first.
- A foul occurs if you fail to hit a rail after making contact with the lowest numbered ball
- A foul occurs if the cue ball leaves the playing surface
- A foul occurs if a numbered ball goes off the table
- If an object ball is moved before or after striking the cue ball, the shooter will advise their opponent and ask if they wish it returned to the original position or left as is. If the shooter grabs the ball and attempts to put it back, it is a foul.
- If more than one ball is moved before striking the cue ball, it is a foul.
- Please call for a referee or arbitrator to watch ANY shot you feel MIGHT be controversial after it is played.
