Snooker League
The Villages Snooker League plays on Tuesdays at the Sterling Heights Rec Center and is managed by Mike Rood with scores handled by Rich Patterson. If you’re interested in trying out this fun league, reach out to Rich here or Mike Rood here to get more info. Here are the latest standings and the schedule from Rich.
If you’ve never played snooker (or snu-ker if you want to try out your British accent), feel free to drop in on a Tuesday to watch. It’s a really fun, strategic game that will hone your safety and shooting play – particularly because the balls and pockets are a bit smaller than those on other tables. Not to mention, the table is 6′ x 12′ — none of those wimpy 9′ ones for this league!
Here is a link to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker (WPBSA) rules. And here are a couple of videos you might find interesting and informative. The first just covers the basics of the rules — there are many others out there on YouTube, The second is special. It is from a match between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Price in which Ronnie made a perfect 147 point run in an amazing 5 minutes and 8 seconds!
