Friday Straight Pool

Fred Caprio runs a straight pool league on Friday mornings at the Hibiscus Rec Center.  Straight pool, also known as 14.1 Continuous Pool, is played with fifteen numbered balls and the cue ball. Each ball pocketed on a legal called shot counts one point and the first player to reach the required score wins the match. 14.1 is continuous in that after fourteen balls are pocketed, they are re-racked and the shooter continues.

Rules for straight pool can be found on the WPA site under Section 4 here.  Dr. Dave’s Billiards has a couple of good videos on YouTube – one explaining the rules here, and this one showing John Schmidt running 434 balls back in 2018.
